You have probably noticed from Facebook, emails and, in my case, posters on the walls in classes that we will be taking part in the Pretty Muddy 5K Race for Life in Winchester on Saturday 7th June 2014. So far the lovely ladies joining me and Glenda are Chloe, Nita, Barb, Leah and Lydia. If you are interested in joining us then please sign up as soon as possible as places are going very quickly.

We just want to say a big thank you to all of you who joined us on our night out on Saturday 15th March. The evening consisted of a lot of laughter, a lot of dancing and a little bit of drinking (or maybe more than just a little bit in some cases!).

It was great opportunity to get to chat to people in a way that you don’t get the chance to either before or after a class. It was also amazing to see how different everyone looks in their posh frocks, make up and high heels…and that was just the guys! We usually see you rather pink in the face and all sweaty. Actually that’s just what we looked like at the end of the evening after all the dancing!!

We must plan another night out soon so those of you who were unable to make it this time can hopefully come along.

Cilla and Glenda

We will be holding a small Zumba Gold demonstration at Velmore Community Centre, Falkland Road, Chandlers Ford on Saturday July 13th at 11.30 as part of their Fun Day. Some of our Gold ladies have already said they will be joining us which is fantastic but we could always do with a few more. Maybe some of our Zumba ladies would like to come along. The Fun Day is from 11am-3pm and their will be lots of activities for the children to take part in.

We now have a weekly fun run on a Friday. This is for all abilities and we currently have some people starting out in running and seasoned runners so if you are tempted to come along there will always be someone of your ability to run with. We meet at the Pavilion on the Park car park, Kingfisher Road, Eastleigh at 6pm. This is a very friendly group so come along and join us.

We hope you had a lovely Bank Holiday weekend. All classes are back to normal this week.

Just wanted to say a very big thank you to all our regular ladies and gents who come along every week to our classes and some of you several times a week. Never put off by the weather or the traffic! It’s also fantastic to see people from the past joining us once again and also great to see new people coming along.

Maybe it’s the improvement in the weather or the thought of summer on its way but everyone seems to be working extra hard in all our classes. From an instructors point of view this is always good to see as we want you to get the most out of every class. It’s great to have you on board guys!!

Well done everyone!

Published 25th May

We are at the end of May already which means another long weekend due to the Bank Holiday.

This also means that most classes will not be running on Monday except for my HIIT class at Holy Cross Church Resource Centre in Eastleigh. The guys that come along to HIIT are such a hard core lot that they didn't want to miss a week!

My big news this week is that I will be starting another Zumba Gold class. This class will start on June 6th and be held every Thursday at Highfield Church Centre, Highfield Lane, Southampton, 2.30-3.30pm. Please contact me if you are interested in coming along or know someone who is.

Enjoy the weekend.

I hope you are making the most of this lovely weather.

This week saw the start of my HIIT class in Eastleigh. Thank you to all of you who joined me in this class and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I was really pleased to see you all willing to push yourselves. Keep working like this and you will really notice a vast improvement in your fitness very quickly.

Zumba South Hants held another Zumbathon on Sunday at Crestwood School in Eastleigh. The event raised money for Simon Says, a local children's bereavement charity, and was organised by Slimming World. Once again thank you to all of our ladies who came along and supported us. A big well done to all the Slimming World ladies who wiggled and giggled through the Zumbathon for two hours! So far £185 has been raised with more to come.

Enjoy the rest of the Bank Holiday weekend.

Well we have finally seen the sun! Temperatures have risen slightly and we have noticed such a difference whilst working out at our classes! Remember to bring plenty of water to your class this week as it's so important to keep hydrated.

Thank you to everyone who has handed us their sponsorship money for the Zumbathon and we will be collecting the rest at our classes this week.

It's great to see so many of you now wearing our t-shirts.

Keep active.

Saturday saw Zumba South Hants taking part in the Zumbathon for an amazing charity C.A.L.M.

We had great fun doing the Zumbathon and it was great to see so many people taking part, many of them new to Zumba. There was lots of laughter and smiles which was great. A few pictures have already gone up on facebook and on our website so take a quick look.
It was really good to see some of you come along and support us and a big thank you to everyone who sponsored us. Well over £500 was raised!

I shall be starting another HIIT class on Monday, 29th April, 8:10pm-8:40pm at the Holy Cross Church, Leigh Road, Eastleigh. Please let me know if you are interested in coming along so I can book your place. I had amazing feedback from my first Weeke HIIT class so why not give it a go. The great thing about the class is it is only 30 minutes long.

T-shirts have now arrived so I will be bringing these along to my classes this week.

See you at a class this week.

We have an exciting week ahead!

Firstly I have to mention the Zumbathon Zumba South Hants are doing on this coming Saturday at Crofton Community School. All money raised will go to a charity that do a fantastic job C.A.L.M. (Campaign Against Living Miserably). Glenda, Chloe and myself have met up to practise the routines for this event and the practise session went very well!

We would like to say a big thank you to all of you who have sponsored us so far for this event. You have been so generous.

Secondly, my new HIIT class starts this Tuesday at Wesley Community Church, Weeke 6-6.30pm. I am really excited about this and delighted that so many of you have signed up to the class.

As a reminder my Hursley Zumba class from this Tuesday, 16th April, will be starting at 7.15pm.

Have a good week everyone.

We hope you had a lovely Easter.

Well what has happened this week? Zumba South Hants t-shirts have been ordered and the belly dance skirts have arrived. I will be bringing the skirts along this week to your Zumba class so get ready to shake it!

All classes are back to normal this week apart from my Winchester Lido class, which is back next Monday after the school Easter holidays.

The other exciting thing this week is the launch of my new website This has details of my fitness classes so please check it out.

The sad news this week is that I have decided to stop my Zumba class at Toynbee School due to low numbers attending.

But on a brighter note some of you have already signed up to our Zumbathon and others have been very generous in sponsoring Zumba South Hants to do the Zumbathon. Thank you so much for this.

I have to say that the highlight of this week for me has to be my Zumbatomic girls. They put on a little show for their mums. They performed three Zumbatomic routines and also their own routines which they have choreographed themselves. Their timing was perfect and they had some amazing moves (some of which I may pinch and add to my Zumba routines). Well done girls. I am really proud of you.

A few classes this week have been cancelled due to the Easter holidays so please check our classes page on this website to see which ones are running.

All that leaves me to say is have a lovely Easter (try not to eat too many Easter eggs!)

This week has seen the announcement that Zumba South Hants will be holding their first Zumbathon in April. All money raised will go to the charity C.A.L.M. (Campaign Against Living Miserably).

We will be shaking our stuff for an hour and a half on Saturday 20th April at Crofton School.

The school Easter holidays are fast approaching which means a few of our classes will not be running. Please check out our class page on this website for further details.

We have had a lot of interest in our Zumba South Hants t-shirts and belly dance skirts which is fantastic. Orders will go in this week so there will be no excuse not to shake that booty!!

See you at Zumba.

Cilla’s new routine went down a storm this week. Everyone loved feeling their abs doing some work!

Zumba have launched a new collection of work out clothing which is colourful and fun! Check out and click on ‘Shop’ to have a look.

Also don’t forget, if you have an old mobile phone bring it along to your Zumba class so that we can pass it on for Zack (read details in last week’s blog)

See you this week for more fantastic Zumba!

Hi everyone,

So I covered Glenda’s St Deny’s stunners’ class on Monday and they were fab!

Glenda has been slowly recovering but was back in action on Wednesday! Just make sure you don’t overdo it Glenda.

Cilla and I have been practising routines this week for Zumba and Zumba Gold. The track ‘Pegaras’ will be introduced in Cilla’s class this week which will be using the Zumba Core so there will be lots of ab work for Zumba!

For Cilla’s Zumba Gold, the track ‘Jamaican Cumbia’ is going to be introduced which uses your arms more!

So come along to Zumba for some fantastic workouts!

On another note, you may remember a while back we were collecting mobile phones for a little boy, Lucas, who is autistic, to buy him an iPad to help with his learning and enable him to communicate with others.

We would like to collect mobile phones again for the same cause for a little boy called Zack who attends the same school as Lucas.

So if you have any old mobile phones hanging around (they don’t have to work) then please bring them along to your Zumba class to give to Cilla, Glenda or Chloe so that we can pass them on.

Hello all, I thought it was my turn to write a blog.

Cilla added a new track this week called ‘Un Mes’ and it’s been going down well. We definitely had fun learning the routine last week.

I covered a class for Glenda on Wednesday with her Woolston Wonders and wonders they are. Having no idea what I was going to throw at them they certainly picked up the moves quickly.

Hopefully Glenda will have rested her shoulder well and be on form next week.

Now if you are reading this and you haven’t been to Zumba for a while, why not? It’s such a fun atmosphere especially when a new track has been added. Come along this week, you won’t regret it.

We’ll see you there! Chloe

Last week started with a chill in the air but the sun shone which was great news for those of you who had children on half term and could actually get outside for a change. It got colder as the week went on and it even tried to snow on Friday!

Due to it being half term week we at Zumba South Hants had a slightly easier week as a few classes were not running due to the holiday.

It was great to see some of you attending another Zumba class as yours had been cancelled.

Glenda and I have now completed a new addition to the Zumba programme – Zumba Core. So watch out for our routines in the near future as we will be working your core as you Zumba!

Well, Chloe has returned from her adventure in New York with a gorgeous sparkly ring on her finger and she hasn’t stopped smiling yet!

We have half term coming up this week so a few of our classes will not be running. If your usual class is not running or you don’t want to miss a whole week of Zumba or your kids are driving you mad come along to one of our other classes. Check out our Classes page for details.

As from 27th February Glenda’s Woolston class will be at a new venue and at a slightly different time, although still on Wednesday’s. The class is moving back to Woolston Community Centre and class times are 6.45-7.45pm.

Also her Zumba Gold class on Thursday 28th February will be moved to Tuesday 26th February for that week only due to the by-elections.

The sun is shining as I write this blog and I have just checked the weather forecast for next week and so far, fingers crossed, weather is looking good for half term week.

Have a great week, whatever you are doing. Cilla

February is already here! Hopefully the weather will start to improve. Whist on a run on Sunday I was amazed to see daffodils already out – please tell me that Spring is just around the corner!

Classes have been running as usual this week and we are still seeing new people coming through the door which is fabulous. Since the New Year Glenda, Chloe and myself have raised the intensity of our classes and are already seeing changes in your fitness levels. It’s great to see each week you giving it that little bit more. I, and I am sure this goes for Glenda, have seen a vast improvement in fitness and mobility from you Zumba Gold ladies. Well done to everyone.

This week saw Chloe disappearing off to New York for a few days. Flight, accommodation and food all paid for by her boyfriend!! Lucky Chloe – we at Zumba South Hants are not jealous one little bit! I’ll list all the pressies she brings me back on next week’s blog J - I have a feeling the blog is going to be very short! Seriously, Chloe we hope you have an amazing time in New York. Since typing this bit Chloe is having a very special time in New York as her boyfriend proposed to her at the top of the Empire State Building and you guessed it she said yes!!

Signing off for now with Zumba love, Cilla

It was with a heavy heart that I decided to call it a day on my Zumbatomic class at Weeke. This was due to the lack of numbers attending the class. I want to say a BIG thank you to Ella, Tabitha, Ella–Mai and Evie for your enthusiasm throughout the classes. Also thank you for my lovely cards that you gave me this week, I will treasure these forever. I am really going to miss you guys, you have been brilliant students.

Again due to numbers, Chloe’s class at The Mo Club also ended this week. Thank you to those of you who came along on a regular basis.

On a more cheerful note, this month has seen several of our ladies from the past coming back to our classes. It is good to see that we have stuck in your memory, and for the right reasons! And that you have chosen to come back to us.

I also want to say a MASSIVE thank you to all our regular ladies and gents who attend every week and some of you several times a week. Snow, ice and rain you are always there – thank you.

As the week has gone on the sun has appeared. We just feel so much better once the sun shines and this has certainly shown in our classes this week. You lot are usually crazy but you seemed to have even more energy this week!

Can’t wait for another week of Zumba fun! Cilla

Published 26th January

Well… Cilla, Glenda and Chloe of Zumba South Hants have decided to keep a blog of life in our Zumba camp!

Last week began very cold (shiver….shiver…). The previous Friday had brought the snow and I had my first ever Zumba class cancelled. Toynbee School had closed due to the snow as many other schools in the area. I must admit the thought of having an evening off seemed very appealing but boy was it a long evening without Zumba!

So, back to the beginning of the week… it was cold, snow was still on the ground and the road and pavements had started to get icy. My Monday evening class is at Weeke Community Centre. This venue has a stage, a slippery stage, so I always make a point of wearing my running trainers with added grip. But this week – no – I turn up in my normal Zumba trainers with the slippery soles. Why? Don’t have a clue, especially as the ground was slippery. At the beginning of the class I ask Steve, one of my long term Zumba students, to stand at the front of the class so he can catch me in case I slip of the stage. Did he? No – he went to the very back of the hall and he never stands at the back! I did manage to stay on the stage. Luckily for him he made up for it. I had parked my car in the road as the car park to the Community Centre was lethal and the slope up the car park was just a sheet of ice. Steve very kindly, with his wife Jacqui, helped me to get myself and my equipment to my car after the class and I got there to my amazement without slipping up once!!

The weather started to improve as the week went on – or did it? I left home Wednesday evening in the rain for my class at Kings School in Winchester. As I got off the motorway in Winchester the snow was falling heavily and had already settled on the roads!

Anyway enough about the weather. Like so many of you, Glenda is one of these people that cleverly juggles work life and children plus she has her Zumba classes. Last Wednesday Glenda had an evening commitment so Chloe covered her Woolston class for her. That’s one of the many great things about us three working together. Chloe said she had a great time, the ladies were lovely and they picked up the routines really easily.

I have to tell you what happened in our Zumba Gold class on Thursday morning – he he! The caretaker, a lovely older gentleman, popped in before our class had finished. As soon as he realised our ladies were there he covered his eyes with his hands so that he couldn’t see them. Despite us all telling him we were not naked he left the hall a lot quicker than he came in. This just proves what gorgeous Golden ladies we have in our classes!

See you at Zumba, Cilla
