Pretty Muddy Race for Life – Saturday 7th June 2014

On the morning of 7th June 2014 seven of us stood waiting on the start line at The Garrison Ground in Winchester for the Pretty Muddy Race to start. We were apprehensive but excited at the same time.

Just as they announced the warm up was about to start the rain started to fall in surprisingly large droplets and as the starter went off the thunder came! Did this deter us? No we were going to get wet anyway and we were on a mission!

We ran to the first obstacle…huge long round plastic tubes which we had to climb over, much easier for the likes of Glenda, Leah and Lydia with long legs! Other obstacle saw us going through tunnels and under nets on our knees, running through tyres, tackling a spider web, climbing inflatable walls and plunging down a slide into a pool of muddy water.

Everyone worked really hard and several of us overcame a few fears on the course.

It was fantastic to take part in something to help such an amazing charity as Cancer Research UK.

Thank you to everyone who sponsored us and thank you to Nita, Chloe, Barb, Leah and Lydia for taking part in this event with us.

We would like to thank our 'backing dancers' Chloe Brimmer and Nita Ballinger who joined in for the whole session and showed everyone what greta fun they were having even when there were routines they had never done before! Thank you ladies :-)
